Our Story
MANA de Albuquerque is an all-volunteer driven 501(c)(3) non-profit organization committed to creating a community of informed and active Latinas working together to support the success of all Latinos. MANA de Albuquerque has been serving Latinas in our community since 1985.

MANA de Albuquerque is a chapter of MANA, a National Latina Organization founded in 1974 and headquartered in Washington D.C. The Albuquerque chapter is part of a national network of Latinas throughout the U.S. who value service, advocacy and leadership development. MANA de Albuquerque was established in 1985 as a volunteer women’s organization whose goal is to assist Latinas in achieving their full potential personally and professionally while serving their community. MANA de Albuquerque provides a resource and support system for members, enabling them to increase their personal and professional leadership skills while developing their special interests in service and advocacy for their community. MANA’s membership includes Latina women of varied interests, careers and lifestyles who support our mission to empower Latinas through leadership development, community service, and advocacy.

MANA Pillars

Mentorship
MANA de Albuquerque’s Hermanitas program provides one-on-one mentoring and leadership development for girls ages 11–18, focusing on personal, career, and leadership growth. Mentors, known as Madrinas, build meaningful relationships with the Hermanitas through weekly communication, attending monthly Hermanitas meetings and events, and participating in ongoing trainings to support both the youth and their families with care and cultural understanding.

Scholarship
MANA de Albuquerque Scholarship Fund awards yearly scholarships of $1000 to Latinas in Bernalillo and Sandoval counties who are enrolled in an accredited college, or university, and who demonstrate a commitment to community service. By investing in the educational journeys of these promising women, MANA aims to empower the next generation of leaders who will give back to their communities and uplift others. Since its inception, the program has proudly awarded over $200,000 in scholarships, helping dozens of recipients pursue their academic and professional goals.

AvanZamos
AvanZamos is MANA de Albuquerque’s adult-focused program dedicated to professional development, community engagement, and personal growth for post-high school Latinas. Through workshops, events, and strategic partnerships, AvanZamos empowers its members—known as HerMANAs—by offering opportunities in areas such as career advancement, health and wellness, education, and civic involvement. The program cultivates a strong network of support through social events and programming that foster leadership and lifelong learning. With a goal of expanding membership and impact each year, AvanZamos is building a vibrant, empowered community of women ready to lead and thrive.
Our mission is to empower Latinas through education, leadership development, community service, and advocacy.
